How do you manage issues of cost, morality, and urban design simultaneously? That’s why architecture needs people who think like Scott Perkins.
Meaningful design that also functions for humans requires layered thinking, foresight, and often, course correction. Scott and I, over a glass of the good bourbon, talk about how to navigate all the above separately and what to do when they converge. Scott examines the art of places from the inside out, especially when he’s in their waiting rooms. His release, which he shares in his sketchbook, is also his research and development for the work that he does every day to help his clients make great offices, homes, and public spaces.
We also discuss how to navigate politics with his staff and clients and how to survive the sharp claws of his cat, which definitely finds a way to interrupt his sleep.
Unfortunately, Michael couldn’t make it for this episode, but he’ll be back for the next one.
