Growing up, Maria didn't celebrate Christmas – or any other holiday for that matter. When all you know is the controlled environment from homeschool to church and back, it's hard to know what you don't know.
When an opportunity gave Maria a chance to live a year in Germany and celebrate every holiday possible, her world opened up, and it made her someone with more Christmas spirit than an elf with a new bowtie and a beer stein full of maple syrup.
She tells us about it in this episode. We talked about her restrictive religious upbringing and how that shaped her move into the role of CEO of the Carmel Christkindlmarkt, and now her new business, within which she will be launching the Christkindlmarkt in Dublin, OH.
This one got pretty interesting. We did our best not to open too many old wounds, but Maria has a great story to share.
